Jason C. Hamilton—a litigator with nearly two decades of experience handling intellectual property and complex commercial litigation matters, including class actions—has joined the rest of his team as a Partner in Ballard Spahr’s new office in San Francisco, Firm Chair Peter Michaud announced today.
Jason has tried cases in various state and federal courts and frequently serves as lead counsel in class actions, with an emphasis on cases alleging false advertising, false labeling, and deceptive practices addressing federal, state, and local consumer protection laws. Jason, like the other four members of Ballard Spahr’s new San Francisco office, comes to the firm from Benesch. He will be a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, and Retail & E-Commerce Industry Team.
“Jason’s broad litigation skill set, especially in class action and consumer protection litigation, will be of immediate benefit to our clients nationwide,” Peter said. “Strategic growth of our litigation capabilities is a key priority. We are delighted that he can join the rest of his team in San Francisco.”
Jason joins his colleagues Stephanie A. Sheridan, Meegan Brooks, Christopher E. Stretch, and Whitney R. Miner, whose arrival was announced last week. Ballard Spahr Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights, and Restructuring Partner Michael S. Myers and Consumer Financial Services Counsel Angela L. Scott will also reside in the San Francisco office, which is Ballard Spahr’s 19th location. Jason will also work out of and support the continued growth of the firm’s Los Angeles office.
“Ballard Spahr has a national reputation for excellence in litigation and a truly deep and national bench,” Jason said. “I’m excited to work with them, as well as to continue practicing alongside some of my most esteemed colleagues. It’s really the best of both worlds.”
