Angela Scott focuses her practice on state and federal consumer financial services litigation as well as government investigations. She advises financial services companies on the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), the Expedited Funds Availability Act (EFAA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), as well as California consumer protection statutes including the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (RFDCPA), the Consumers Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), the California Identity Theft Act (CITA), and the Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA).
Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Angela worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for both the Central District and the Eastern District of California. She prosecuted terrorism and other national security-related offenses, organized crime offenses, and white collar offenses, including embezzlement, wire fraud, and money laundering. She led teams of agents in the investigations that resulted in these prosecutions.
