More Than 30 From Ballard Spahr Make D.C. Courts Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll for Service in 2024

Thirty-one Ballard Spahr attorneys are listed on this year’s Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll in recognition of contributing 50 hours or more of pro bono legal service in the District of Columbia during 2024.

Launched in 2011, the Honor Roll is issued annually by the District of Columbia Courts in partnership with the D.C. Access to Justice Commission, the D.C. Bar, and the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center to recognize lawyers who contribute 50 or more pro bono hours in D.C. during the prior year. The organizations also designate lawyers who contribute 100 hours or more of pro bono work during the year for recognition on their High Honor Roll.

The organizations reported record-breaking pro bono participation District-wide in 2024, with more attorneys than ever registering for the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll—5,400 performing 50 hours or more of pro bono legal work, including 3,000 recognized for 100 or more hours.

Lawyers from Ballard Spahr’s Washington, D.C., office—as well as from other offices, who are authorized to perform pro bono work in D.C.—are well-known for decades of dedicated pro bono service to the D.C. community, and for prior accolades.

Through Ballard Spahr’s nationally acclaimed Pro Bono initiative, lawyers at the firm contribute more than 50,000 hours annually to pro bono service, ensuring that clients have a voice and a legal advocate regardless of their ability to pay. Our attorneys partner with agencies throughout the country to provide free legal services to meet the most pressing needs of our communities, and we represent low-income individuals and families in a full spectrum of matters. Our work includes protection of fundamental human and civil rights, child advocacy, legal clinics for veterans and unhoused people, protection of art and other intellectual property, business counseling and representation, and more.
