Meredith S. Dante represents employers across industries including life sciences, health care, insurance, consumer products, hospitality, financial services, manufacturing, higher education, technology, and retail in a broad range of labor and employment disputes. She partners with clients to proactively identify issues and devise legal solutions that are specifically tailored to the client's workforce and business needs. She regularly advises clients in matters involving discrimination, harassment, whistleblower complaints and retaliation, wage and hour issues, reductions in force, compliance issues, restrictive covenants, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other accessibility issues, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and related state laws, and diversity and inclusion programs.

She has extensive experience conducting audits and internal investigations, as well as defending clients in single plaintiff, class, and collective actions across the spectrum of employment laws. She regularly advises clients in employment and corporate policies and guidelines including the review and development of codes of conduct, handbooks, and other internal policies. She has represented a number of publicly traded companies in enhancing various components of their corporate compliance programs. She also works with her clients to devise training programs that effectively communicate corporate policies and principles to employees and other key stakeholders. She frequently works with emerging growth clients to provide practical guidance on the unique issues faced by these companies as they grow and build successful businesses.

Meredith also advises both public and private employers on traditional labor issues, including union-organizing campaigns, unfair labor practices, and collective bargaining. She has extensive experience representing health systems in day-to-day labor issues, grievances, and arbitrations. She proactively works with clients to devise labor solutions that achieve overarching business goals. She has experience handling interest arbitrations and grievance arbitrations, as well as representing employers before the National Labor Relations Board, Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission, New Jersey Office of Administrative Law, and Delaware Public Employment Relations Board.

Representative Matters

  • Represents publicly traded company in matter involving the breach of restrictive covenants and theft of trade secrets and confidential information
  • Conducts internal investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, and employee misconduct
  • Represents publicly traded companies in enhancing various components of their corporate compliance programs, including drafting and revising Codes of Conduct, sexual harassment programs, and other internal policies
  • Assists employers in conducting wage and hour audits
  • Represents employers in wage and hour class and collective actions
  • Represents public and private health systems in a broad range of traditional labor and employment matters
  • Represents a public utility company and health care institutions in an array of grievance arbitrations involving discipline and contract interpretation matters
  • Provides advice and counseling to emerging growth companies with respect to restrictive covenants, employment agreements, and other employment-related issues
  • Represents universities in union organizing campaigns and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board
  • Provides training on several topics, including prohibited harassment and discrimination, the FMLA, and ADA
  • Represented a manufacturer against allegations of discrimination and retaliation; obtained dismissal of the complaint
  • Represented a company in the prosecution of tortious interference, defamation, trade libel, and unfair competition claims; obtained favorable settlement for the client
  • Represented a company and its founders against allegations of unfair competition and breach of restrictive covenants; obtained favorable settlement for the client
  • Represented a hospital in litigation involving allegations of invasion of privacy and defamation in connection with an employee's termination; obtained dismissal of the complaint

Meredith is a member of the firm's Hiring Committee and has been involved in managing the firm's summer program. Meredith also is Co-Chair of Ballard Women Philadelphia.
