Four Ballard Spahr Attorneys Elevated to Counsel

Four Ballard Spahr attorneys have been elevated to Counsel effective July 1, 2026, firm Chair Peter Michaud announced.

The four attorneys are:
Ethan Picone, Litigation, Seattle: Ethan advises employers in a wide range of industries on both traditional labor relations as well as employment matters. On the labor side, he has extensive experience handling unionization, collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations. On the employment side, he counsels employers on regulatory and wage-and-hour compliance, including class action litigation. He also has extensive experience counseling employers on preventive labor law training and designing overall strategy and compliance programs. Ethan is a regular contributor to the firm’s Best Practices for Best Employers™ Labor & Employment Seminar, which is now in its 44th year.
Tesia N. Stanley, Litigation, Salt Lake City: Tesia handles complex commercial litigation matters with a focus on public finance, securities, and construction litigation. She has litigated document-intensive cases in state and federal courts across the country. Tesia is a former staff member of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and regularly advises clients on federal securities law materiality standards, regulatory compliance, and enforcement actions.
Alan White, Ph.D., Intellectual Property, Atlanta: Alan is a member of Ballard Spahr’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. His practice focuses on patent litigation, prosecution, and counseling for national and global clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CSE, forestry, and wildlife management industries. Alan has drafted and prosecuted patent applications relating to viral gene therapies, cellular therapies, and biomanufacturing processes in the U.S. and internationally. He has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trademark matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. District Courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the International Trade Commission.
Elizabeth Wingfield, Litigation, Philadelphia: Lizzy is Deputy Chair of the firm's Education Team. She practices complex commercial litigation with a focus on representing educational institutions, both in litigation and by conducting internal investigations. Lizzy has represented private and public institutions in both the K-12 and higher education levels. She is currently Co-Chair of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association Mentorship Committee.
