Keith Olsen is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department who focuses his practice on labor and employment matters. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Keith worked at a Chambers-ranked law firm, where he advised employers on compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Titles VI and VII, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and the New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws.

In this role, Keith also represented corporate and nonprofit employers in litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings, and conducted confidential investigations related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, Title IX, and other employee misconduct. In addition to his labor and employment practice, Keith has litigated Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) claims and also counseled on Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) issues and crisis communications, working closely with clients to address online content disputes, reputational risks, and high-profile matters requiring coordinated legal and communications strategies.

Before becoming an attorney, Keith worked as director of communications and strategic initiatives at New York University (NYU) Rory Meyers College of Nursing, as an adjunct instructor of writing and communications at NYU Steinhardt, and in various communications and program management roles at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He also worked as a journalist at ABC News.

Keith maintains an active pro bono practice, including advising cultural and arts organizations and houses of worship in complying with state and federal law, advocating for animal rights in the New York City Council, and representing freelancers in under- and non-payment of wage claims.
