Hara K. Jacobs—leader of Ballard Spahr’s nationally recognized Trademarks and Copyrights Group—focuses on intellectual property infringement litigation and advising clients on the implementation and development of global branding and enforcement strategies.

Hara has more than 25 years of experience representing clients in all phases of trademark, trade dress, false advertising, copyright, trade secret, and right of publicity litigation, from initial counseling through trial and appeal. She regularly appears in federal and state courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Representative Matters

Intellectual Property Litigation

  • American Outdoor Brands v. Good Sportsman Marketing (D. Del. 2022). Obtained Stipulated Permanent Injunction and other relief for leading outdoor sports company against competitor following institution of action for trademark counterfeiting and infringement and patent infringement.
  • RJ Brands v. Bloomberg L.P. (D.N.J. 2020). Successfully defended Bloomberg against claims of trademark infringement and brought counterclaim for fraud on the Patent and Trademark Office, resulting in Plaintiff’s voluntary relinquishment of the trademark registration at issue. Plaintiff subsequently withdrew its claims against Bloomberg.
  • SRS Acquiom, et al. v. The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., et al (D. Colo. 2019). Successfully defended a preliminary injunction motion brought by a competitor seeking to enjoin the continued operation of a business unit at PNC. Obtained summary judgment on the majority of claims and obtained highly favorable pretrial evidentiary rulings, culminating in a favorable settlement prior to trial.
