Lexi Chapman is a mid-level litigator in Ballard Spahr’s Privacy and Data Security Practice Group. Lexi specializes in privacy and data security class action defense, and she represents clients across a range of industries—including technology, health care, retail, and financial services—in high-stakes cases involving precedent-setting issues in privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and consumer protection law.
Lexi defends class action and individual claims under statutes such as the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act (WESCA), the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), other state and federal privacy frameworks, and various other tort and consumer protection theories often asserted in connection with claims related to digital advertising and website analytics cases. In addition to the numerous federal class actions she has defended, Lexi has first- and second- chaired dozens of arbitrations in this field, and she has secured numerous awards in her clients’ favor at summary judgment. Lexi has also prosecuted and defended claims involving data rights associated with artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.
