Helping McCormick Spice Company Keep Its Corporate Headquarters in Baltimore County

Leading spice and flavorings maker McCormick & Co. has finalized an agreement to move its corporate headquarters to a 20-acre site in Hunt Valley, Maryland, with legal representation by attorneys from Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore and Washington, D.C., offices.

The move from McCormick’s current headquarters in the nearby town of Sparks will enable the company to consolidate more than 900 employees who now work at several existing buildings in Sparks and Hunt Valley. The new, state-of-the-art corporate campus is designed to position the company for future growth and attract the next generation of employees. The move is expected to take place in August 2018. The new site is located near McCormick manufacturing facilities in Hunt Valley and close to public transit and amenities, including a shopping mall and supermarket.

The 339,000-square-foot headquarters building will be owned by Greenfield Partners LLC, which will redevelop a portion of an existing structure it is acquiring from Verizon.

On behalf of McCormick, Ballard Spahr attorneys performed due diligence on the participating entities as well as the property, and negotiated the condominium regime and McCormick’s lease.

The move keeps McCormick’s headquarters in Baltimore County. The company was founded 126 years ago in Baltimore.
