DOJ Drops Third Circuit Bid for PA Hospital Trans Patient Info

J. Chesley Burruss, a member of Ballard Spahr's Litigation Department, spoke with Law360 about the Department of Justice dropping its appeal for the Third Circuit to review the dismissal of its demand for records on patients who received gender-affirming care at a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center children's hospital.

"We had a really strong order from the district court from [U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon], and the dismissal of the appeal means that that order stands, and our clients don't have to turn over their medical records," Burruss said. "It's a win for them, for their privacy and for their right to get the health care that they deserve."
