Eric Kerkvliet Joins Ballard Spahr in Sioux Falls

October 15, 2025

Eric Kerkvliet—who has almost two decades of experience representing investors, private equity syndicators, and business owners in corporate transactions and investment matters—has joined Ballard Spahr’s Business and Transactions Department, Corporate and Transactions and Outside General Counsel Practices, and Sioux Falls office as of counsel, firm Chair Peter Michaud announced today.

“Eric’s ability to problem-solve with an eye toward a client’s long-term goals, and his nuanced understanding of the market make him a terrific addition to our bench,” said Business and Transactions Department Chair Nathan E. Seiler. “He delivers actionable, forward-thinking counsel and a personalized approach that helps companies overcome challenges and succeed.”

Eric represents business owners, private equity firms, family offices, and real estate investors in capital raises, private placements, M&A and corporate transactions, and real estate investment matters.

Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Eric practiced corporate law and was a member of the leadership team of Lynn, Jackson, Shultz & Lebrun. He also served as general counsel to Alpine Companies, where he was instrumental in raising private equity investment for multifamily real estate investment purchases.

“Ballard Spahr has strength in the areas where I focus—M&A, real estate transactions, and corporate matters—as well as a national platform and a growth mindset. I’m also pleased to once again work alongside Amy Arndt and Dan Fritz,” Eric said. “This team goes beyond for clients in every way. I share that way of thinking, and I’m excited to join the team.”
