Ballard Spahr Among 'Most Feared' Litigation Firms in New Industry Report

October 6, 2022

With business litigation predicted to continue rising through 2023 across industries and areas of law, Ballard Spahr is well-positioned to help clients succeed, according to a new report from BTI Consulting Group that rates the firm among the very best for advocacy in court and alternative forums.

Ballard Spahr is one of just 46 U.S. firms deemed “The Most Feared Law Firms in Litigation,” and one of just 27 “Intimidating Opponent” firms. In addition, BTI Litigation Outlook 2023 ranks Ballard Spahr as a top firm in five categories covering intellectual property, employment, and commercial litigation:

BTI reports that clients face “more litigation than ever,” and that the “demand for litigation planning and strategy along with litigation is at record levels…. More clients face complex and higher risk matters than last year.”

The independent report, released today by Wellesley-based BTI, is based on more than 350 interviews with leading legal decision makers—such as general counsels and chief legal officers—at companies with median revenue of $13.6 billion. The 216 firms in BTI’s rankings were singled out by clients with no prompts.

“These latest rankings affirm not only our historical strength in litigation—spanning industries and litigation practices—but also that we grow stronger every year,” said Jason A. Leckerman, Chair of Ballard Spahr’s 250-lawyer Litigation Department. “We continue to be focused on helping our clients through these extraordinary times and as the challenges to their business evolve. Now, factors such as increased government enforcement, supply chain issues, economic stressors, digital transformation, and a tight employment market are creating greater risk and more disputes. The BTI report recognizes that clients view Ballard Spahr litigators to be among the strongest in the country.”
