M. Norman Goldberger and Gregory Seltzer Named 'Best of the Bar' by the Philadelphia Business Journal

Ballard Spahr Partners M. Norman Goldberger and Gregory L. Seltzer will be honored as "Best of the Bar" by the Philadelphia Business Journal today. The accolade recognizes Philadelphia's top lawyers who have distinguished themselves as outstanding leaders in law, business, and the community.

Mr. Goldberger and Mr. Seltzer were selected from hundreds of lawyers in the region. They were chosen based on the significance of their achievements, the scale of their legal results, and the effect of their work on the business community. Winners will be profiled in a special report by the publication tomorrow.

Mr. Goldberger leads Ballard Spahr's Securities Enforcement and Corporate Governance Litigation practice, which handles bet-the-company matters for many of the biggest companies in the Pennsylvania. He focuses on securities litigation, consumer fraud class actions, derivative actions, internal investigations, and corporation governance litigation. Mr. Goldberger has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and in appellate and trial courts throughout the country.

Ballard Spahr's securities litigation practice has grown significantly under Mr. Goldberger's leadership. The group now includes more than 40 lawyers in eight of the firm's 15 offices across the country.

Mr. Goldberger also leads Ballard Spahr's longstanding partnership with City Year, an education nonprofit organization that provides young adult tutors, mentors, and role models to work alongside teachers in underserved communities.

Mr. Seltzer leads Ballard Spahr's Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Group. He focuses on corporate mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the middle market, as well as securities matters and private equity and venture capital financing transactions. He has negotiated and closed public merger transactions with values exceeding $1 billion.

Mr. Seltzer represents startup companies, venture capital firms, private-equity funds, and angel investors.

Mr. Seltzer is the founder and producer of Philly Music Fest, an annual nonprofit music and arts festival featuring exclusively Philadelphia-area bands, artists, and breweries. He serves on the Council at the Mann Music Center and the Board of Philadelphia Youth Basketball.
