Journalists' Civil Rights Claims for Abuses During George Floyd and Daunte Wright Protests Can Go to Trial

MLRC Media Law Letter

November 1, 2023

Isabella Salomão Nascimento co-wrote a piece for the Media Law Resource Center's MediaLawLetter on Goyette et al v. City of Minneapolis et al, a case brought by journalists who were subjected to unconstitutional conduct by law enforcement officers from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and State of Minnesota. "The decision is a ringing affirmation of the importance and vitality of a free and independent press, as guaranteed by the First Amendment," the co-authors wrote.

Ms. Salomão Nascimento is a member of Ballard Spahr's nationally recognized Media & Entertainment Law Group. She began serving as co-counsel in this matter in her previous role as a staff attorney at the ACLU of Minnesota.
