Matthew Wallace is an associate in the firm’s Business and Transactions Department where he focuses his practice on corporate aviation matters. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Matthew was an aviation associate at a global law firm, where he advised airlines, corporations, and private equity firms on a broad range of aviation and aerospace matters. His experience includes representing clients in commercial transactions, financing agreements, and vendor agreements, as well as related disputes in litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
Before entering private practice, Matthew served in the United States Army as a Special Trial Counsel at the Army’s Office of Special Trial Counsel for the Third Circuit. In this role, he managed a high-volume docket spanning six offices in five states, and conducted dozens of first-chair jury trials involving the Army’s most serious criminal and civil cases. He also received an Army Commendation Medal in 2021 for his exceptional efforts related to a high-profile matter in a deployed environment. Matthew maintains a commission as a Captain and Special Trial Counsel in the United States Army Reserve.
While attending law school, Matthew gained additional experience as a legal intern for a special operations agency and as a summer associate at a large international airline.
