Ryan Sullivan is a Philadelphia Litigation associate who practices complex commercial litigation matters, with a focus on white collar defense and internal investigations. Ryan has experience representing clients facing state and federal investigations, as well as in commercial disputes in state and federal courts.
Ryan also maintains an active pro bono practice, primarily representing transgender and nonbinary clients, as well as criminal defense matters.
Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Ryan completed an internship with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Before law school, Ryan was an honors paralegal with the Federal Trade Commission in the Bureau of Consumer Protection and later in the Office of the General Counsel.

- Represented a large financial services company in a multistate State AG investigation involving allegations of unfair and deceptive practices
- Obtained a temporary injunction on behalf of transgender youth in the state of Kansas, successfully challenging a state prohibition on access to health care for transgender minors
- Represented a large pharmaceutical company against complex breach of contract claims in Delaware Chancery Court
