Conor Smith unravels business disputes for lenders, corporate trustees, general contractors, agribusinesses, and investors in state and federal courts. His past projects include subcontractor disputes, commercial foreclosure and mortgage defaults, loss recovery, receiverships, and insurance coverage matters. Conor specializes in fraud investigation and prosecution, and he has obtained jury verdicts and judgments for clients based on piercing the corporate veil, recovery of fraudulent or voidable transfers, and punitive damages stemming from fraudulent business schemes. Conor particularly enjoys the wide variety of subject matters—from mining projects to pea farms to low-income multifamily housing—and working together with dedicated clients to maximize recovery with thoughtful solutions.
Conor’s clients include senior lenders, master trustees, bond trustees, special servicers, banks, and other interested parties for matters involving structured finance, corporate debt, municipal debt, and project finance. He works at all stages of a matter, from pre-pleading dispute resolution, complex electronic discovery management, mediation, and trial to appeal, collections, and judgment enforcement, from straightforward contract disputes to complex multi-party litigation.
In addition, Conor represents pro bono clients in asylum and human trafficking matters, building relationships over years not only to help them get justice but also to feel heard. Outside of the office, Conor is an avid traveler and gardener.
