Sharon Shachar is a tax partner in the New York office of Ballard Spahr LLP. Sharon’s practice focuses on federal income tax aspects of business transactions. She guides clients through tax issues in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, cross border investments, divestitures, joint ventures, reorganizations, financings, and fund formation. Sharon also advises clients on various tax aspects of partnership taxation and structuring and negotiating complex real estate transactions, including qualified opportunity zone investments and formation and operations of REITs.

Throughout her career, Sharon has developed and implemented innovative tax strategies that help clients leverage opportunities and meet strategic and business goals. Sharon takes pride in aligning tax efficiency with business needs to help clients succeed. She provides practical business advice on complex tax issues, which allows business leaders to effectively capitalize on opportunities and navigate challenges.

Prior to joining the firm, she was in-house counsel at a global Fortune 500 energy and automation digital solutions company, where she served as Director of Tax Planning and Transactions. She has worked as a tax lawyer for an international firm and has served as mergers and acquisitions counsel at a Big Four public accounting firm as well as at a medium-sized law firm.
