Stella Padilla is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on consumer financial services (CFS) matters and complex commercial litigation. She represents financial institutions and companies in CFS litigation, as well as other corporations and individuals in commercial business disputes.
Stella has defended financial institutions and corporations against individual, class, and government enforcement actions under federal and state consumer protection statutes such as Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices/Unfair Competition Law (UDAP/UCL), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). She has also defended other companies against broader consumer protection actions such as the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and California’s False Advertising Law (FAL). In commercial business disputes, her practice primarily focuses on trade secret misappropriation, breach of fiduciary duty, contractual breach, and fraud cases.
