Darnell J. Morrow

Associate
Washington, DC

Darnell focuses his practice on representing institutional lenders and commercial loan servicers in agency and non-agency real estate financing transactions, with a particular emphasis on market-rate and affordable multifamily properties. He routinely advises clients on multilayered loan servicing requests and asset management matters, including loan assumptions, transfers of ownership interests, telecommunications and solar easements, development and air right transfers, and other complex lender consent requests involving credit-enhanced, securitized, and non-securitized financings.

Darnell’s practical, solutions-oriented approach helps clients efficiently navigate legal and structural considerations that impact financings, such as ground leases, commercial leases, tenants-in-common (TIC) structures, preferred equity investments, mezzanine and supplemental debt, low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC), joint ventures, 1031 exchanges, affordability restrictions, and tax abatements.

In addition to his real estate finance practice, Darnell has advised clients on New York commercial real estate, land use, zoning, and corresponding litigation matters. He also has experience counseling local governments on a diverse range of legal, regulatory, and governance issues.
