Avery Meng is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department who focuses her practice on commercial litigation, dispute resolution, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and restructuring matters. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Avery worked at a Chambers-ranked law firm, where she represented debtors, creditors, and other parties in chapter 11 cases, chapter 15 cases, and out-of-court restructurings.

While attending law school, Avery gained additional experience through a legal externship at an Am Law 100 law firm, as well as through a summer internship at the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in Newport News, Virginia.

  • Represented a national specialty tile company as lead counsel in connection with its chapter 11 proceedings
  • Represented a waste management service as lead counsel in its chapter 11 proceedings
  • Represented a pioneer pregnancy care company as co-counsel in its chapter 11 proceedings; prepared and reviewed motions relating to the automatic stay; participated in negotiations with the Israeli court-appointed trustee

Pro Bono Experience

Represented plaintiff in the Court of Chancery regarding real property dispute, after defending an ejectment action filed by the adverse party in the Superior Court of Delaware; conducted depositions; drafted pre-trial brief and pre-trial order; prepared witnesses, and represented plaintiff at trial in the Court of Chancery.
