Anna Kaul is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and focuses her practice on commercial litigation matters, media and entertainment law, and First Amendment litigation. Anna has extensive experience representing clients in a wide range of commercial, intellectual property, appellate, and pro bono matters at all stages of litigation. She regularly defends media organizations and journalists, including against defamation, privacy, and copyright claims, and pursues access to public records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and similar state laws.
During law school, Anna was a student director of the Yale Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic where, under the Clinic’s supervision, she advised documentarians on legal risks and assisted news organizations in affirmative First Amendment litigation. Anna also worked with NPR’s Office of the General Counsel as an intern. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Anna was an associate at an international law firm.
