Thamanna Hussain is a Litigation associate who focuses her practice on white collar defense, commercial litigation, and dispute resolution. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, she worked at a Chambers-ranked law firm, where she represented companies and individuals in complex internal, state regulatory, and federal regulatory investigations. She participated in a wide range of matters, including employment, financial, corporate governance, whistleblower claims, insider trading, and sensitive investigations.
While attending law school, Thamanna gained additional experience as a legal extern and a summer associate at law firms. Thamanna was also a student advocate for the Education Law Clinic and represented low-income students in education and advocacy matters, including suspension hearings before NYC Department of Education hearing officers. Prior to law school, she volunteered for The Innocence Project, and served as a legal intern in the Special Victims Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s Office.

- Represented a national bank in responding to inquiries by the New York Attorney General and Department of Justice
- Represented Robinhood in its SEC and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority settlements relating to best execution practices and payment for order flow

Represented death row defendants in Alabama; Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) litigation in New York seeking body camera footage from correctional facilities; and conducted internal investigations into workplace misconduct within academic program serving underrepresented youth.
