Rebecca Krikorian Clary is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on commercial litigation and privacy and data security class action defense. She represents a wide range of clients in industries such as technology, retail, financial services, entertainment, and hospitality. Rebecca vigorously defends her clients against a variety of claims, including claims based on unfair competition, fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of contract, California Invasion of Privacy (CIPA), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Her experience includes drafting and arguing successful dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, managing discovery disputes, negotiating settlements, and advising clients on data privacy compliance and cyber incident response.

Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Rebecca worked at an Am Law 100 law firm where she represented various commercial clients in complex disputes, including matters regarding breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, fraudulent misrepresentation, and unfair competition. In this role, Rebecca also represented national franchisors in multi-plaintiff actions and arbitrations alleging violations of the California Franchise Relations Act and California Franchise Investment Law.

While in law school, Rebecca was a board member of the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law from 2019-2020. She graduated from Pepperdine with three different certificates: one in Intellectual Property, Entertainment, and Technology; another in Dispute Resolution; and a third in Entertainment, Media, and Sports Law.

  • Currently defending home furnishings retail store against mass tort litigation alleging strict liability and fraud theories in California state court.
  • Secured complete dismissal of multimillion-dollar lawsuit against national franchisor alleging unfair competition and conspiracy claims at the demurrer stage.
  • Advised restaurant group on general data privacy compliance, including drafting terms of service and privacy policies.
