Yanni Chen is a Litigation associate in the firm’s Media and Entertainment Law practice group. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, she served as Legal Director of Free Press, a media and tech reform nonprofit devoted to protecting press freedom, a free and open internet, and local journalism. In that role, Yanni led the organization’s litigation strategy, advocated on behalf of public interest groups before federal government agencies, prepared legislative testimony, drafted motions and briefs in federal litigation and regulatory filings in administrative proceedings, and provided public education on telecommunications law, administrative law, and First Amendment matters.
Yanni also previously worked in the Communications, Internet, and Media practice group of a Chambers-ranked law firm in Washington, D.C., where she counseled technology clients on domestic and international content moderation, child safety, and data protection laws and regulations.
