Bryce Brown is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department who focuses his practice on matters related to the environment and natural resources. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, Bryce worked at a Chambers-ranked law firm, where he advised a wide range of clients on environmental due diligence, regulations, and compliance. In this role, he also litigated cleanup actions under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and state equivalents.

While attending law school, Bryce gained additional experience as a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice and as a summer associate.

Bryce was a chemist and later an environmental project manager at a waste management company in Portland before beginning his legal career. He managed hazardous waste, performed Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act inspections on the site, and collaborated with Environment, Health, and Safety Services to ensure compliance.

  • Advised renewable energy developers on land use issues in Washington and Idaho
  • Advised irrigation district on certification of dam rehabilitation project under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act
  • Represented various current and former owners of contaminated land during cleanup negotiations with the Washington Department of Ecology and other potentially liable parties
