The Litigation Reach of the 100 Practice Footprint Firms

For its Practice Footprint project, Law360 looked at the litigation reach of 100 law firms across the country. It used cases filed from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025. It limited data to civil federal district court cases, excluding prisoner petitions, Social Security cases, and those identified as associated member cases of multidistrict litigation. The information was pulled from Lex Machina on July 14, 2025.

Ballard Spahr received a footprint score of 91.6, which was based on its relative performance in four categories: geographic reach in litigation, litigation volume across 10 practice areas, completed public deal value, and completed offerings values.
