Amanda Phillips Joins Mortgage Banking Group

Amanda Phillips, an attorney with significant experience in the regulatory compliance aspects of mortgage lending, has joined Ballard Spahr's Mortgage Banking Group, the firm announced today. Ms. Phillips will be Of Counsel in the firm's Denver office.

Before joining Ballard Spahr, Ms. Phillips spent 10 years as in-house counsel for a leading mortgage origination software platform and a national mortgage lender. She advises clients on the federal and state regulatory requirements governing mortgage lending, including business processes and practices, software, and documentation.

Ms. Phillips' experience includes establishing scalable compliance policies, developing strategies to identify compliance risk, and leading internal compliance programs. She provides compliance guidance in areas spanning product development, sales, contract negotiations, and implementation. She also helps clients comply with a variety of laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth-In-Lending Act (TILA), and the Federal Trade Commission's Telemarketing Sales Rule.
