Steve Suflas to Receive NJICLE Distinguished Service Award

June 11, 2019

Steve Suflas, a Labor and Employment partner at Ballard Spahr, will receive the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education's (NJICLE) Distinguished Service Award on June 17.

The award is given annually to recipients who have made significant contributions to NJICLE's educational mission. Mr. Suflas was selected as one of four Distinguished Service Award winners thanks to his "many hours of devoted service to the NJICLE," according to Lisa Spiegel, NJICLE's Senior Managing Director of Legal Education. NJICLE is a division of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA).

"Steve has been an instrumental contributor to the Labor and Employment Law Forum for over 20 years. It's the premier event for labor and employment attorneys, regularly drawing audiences of 200 people, and Steve is a major reason it has been so successful," Ms. Spiegel said. "Steve has also been an active member of the NJSBA, serving as trustee, Chair of the Labor and Employment Section, and regular speaker at the NJSBA Annual Meeting. He is a nationally recognized thought leader on labor and employment issues, and we appreciate his commitment to speaking at NJICLE programs, even with his heavy caseload and travel schedule."

Mr. Suflas practiced in New Jersey for decades before assuming the Office Managing Partner role in Ballard Spahr's Denver office.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the NJICLE," he said. "It's important that we, as professionals, keep our thinking current and stay up-to-date with respect to trends and changes in the law. I've been proud to help educate fellow attorneys throughout New Jersey and expand understanding with regard to labor and employment issues."
