Ballard Spahr Named One of the Top U.S. Law Firms for Innovation

September 13, 2018

Ballard Spahr has been ranked as one of the country's most innovative law firms by BTI Consulting, which recognized the firm for its strategic use of technology, its focus on emerging areas of practice, its uniformly high level of client service, and its innovative approach to tackling client issues.

BTI released the rankings in its first-ever Legal Innovation and Technology Outlook report. The results are based on feedback gathered from approximately 350 top legal decision-makers in the United States at companies with at least $1 billion in revenue.

Ballard Spahr was named in all four of BTI's ranking categories:

Movers & Shakers: Ballard Spahr ranks among the top 25 percent of U.S. law firms that are “making bold moves which are strategically and tactically impressive.” Those efforts include making investments in new and important practices, creating dedicated client teams, and bringing on impressive laterals.

Innovation Builder: Ballard Spahr was recognized as being among the first to try new approaches and embrace new ways of thinking about client issues.

Client Experience Innovator: The firm was commended for delivering a high level of service across teams, practice, and offices; understanding matter-specific risks; proactively bringing industry-specific insight to clients; and using leading edge technology and practices to track budget and performance data.

Law Firm Technology Leader: Ballard Spahr was one of only 61 U.S. law firms hailed for its skill in developing, customizing, and using technology to mine data, improve cost efficiency, predict industry trends, share information, and improve quality.

Ballard Spahr has always focused on delivering exceptional client service. In recent years, the firm has strategically concentrated its efforts on continuing to provide the same level of client service in a cost-effective, innovative, and efficient way. Melissa Prince, Ballard Spahr's Chief Client Value Officer, and Suzette Allaire, the firm's Chief Innovation Officer, work closely together to respond to client needs with innovative processes and solutions.

"We recognize that the 'tried and true' methods of delivering legal service can be improved through reliance on innovation, efficiency, and a laser focus on listening to and meeting the needs of our clients," said Ms. Prince, "We are proud of what we've accomplished so far and we will continue to look for new and creative ways to leverage processes and technology to help our clients stay ahead."
