Michael Fabius Receives Emerging Leaders Award From the American Jewish Committee

June 21, 2018

Ballard Spahr attorney Michael D. Fabius received the Murray Friedman Emerging Leaders Award from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) of Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey on June 19 at the region's annual meeting in Philadelphia.

Named for the late AJC leader and prolific author, the Murray Friedman Emerging Leaders Award is presented annually to a recipient who embodies integrity, creativity, and leadership in advancing the mission of AJC, a leading global Jewish advocacy organization.

Mr. Fabius is an active member of the Board and Executive Committee for AJC of Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey and co-chair of AJC's Muslim-Jewish group, Circle of Friends. Selected as one of AJC's seven national Sholom D. Comay "Leadership for the Future" Fellows for 2018-2019 based on his demonstrated leadership abilities, Mr. Fabius will provide support nationally for AJC and its mission of promoting tolerance and advocating for the well-being of Jewish people and human rights and democratic values for all.

Mr. Fabius is of counsel in Ballard Spahr's Philadelphia office, where he is a member of the firm's Litigation Department and its Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, and Contracting Group. He has particular experience advising clients in the highly regulated gaming and racing industries, and in litigating claims in front of administrative agencies. Mr. Fabius advises public and private sector clients on political and ethics laws addressing public access to records, open meetings, government contracting, elections, campaign finance, and lobbying disclosure. In addition, he has provided at least 100 hours of pro bono legal services annually nearly every year since he entered into practice more than a decade ago. He frequently volunteers his legal services for voter protection, voting rights, and civic organizations.

Mr. Fabius was named a Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Legal Intelligencer in 2015. In 2014, the nonprofit civic and leadership training organization LEADERSHIP Philadelphia recognized him with its "Keeper" designation as one of the young Philadelphians the city "can't afford to lose."
