Adam Maarec and Thomas Burke, both members of Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group, will speak for the Conference on Consumer Finance Law on the second day of the event, Friday, May 29.
Adam will present "The Future of Payments – Can Fraud Be Stopped; Is AI the Answer?" from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. central time, with fellow speakers Aaron Kouhopt and Crissy South. This panel will discuss the future of payments and the rising tide of fraud, in particular first payment fraud.
Thomas will present "UCC-ing the Problem? Liability in the Digital Payments Era" from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. central time, with fellow speakers Nick Agnello and Lesley Meredith. This panel will discuss the latest developments in the law governing liability for electronic payment fraud, with a focus on Article 4A and Regulation E.
