Michael Berry, a First Amendment lawyer in our acclaimed Media and Entertainment Law group, will be on this, the keynote panel of the conference Free Speech at the Crossroads: A Keystone Dialogue, along with Cherri Gregg, co-host of Studio 2 on WHYY FM; Wendy White, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine; and panel moderator Sanford G. Ungar, Director of the Free Speech Project at Georgetown University.

The event description:

Free Speech remains hotly contested, especially in the midst of President Donald Trump’s second, nonconsecutive term, which has been marked by many free expression controversies. Amid the political uproar, how is the First Amendment holding up in America today? Have many people come to favor Free Speech only for those with whom they agree?

Subtitled “Is the First Amendment still a shared value—or just a partisan tool,” this compelling discussion is the keynote panel of a two-day conference, “Free Speech at the Crossroads: A Keystone Dialogue,” Wednesday and Thursday, October 15 and 16.

Free Speech at the Crossroads: A Keystone Dialogue is presented by the Free Speech Project in collaboration with Temple University, and with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Lenfest Institute. The event features nearly three dozen panelists over two days, addressing the most significant issues in the arena of free speech, freedom of the press, and other First Amendment freedoms.
