Some critics say that the new sheriff in town, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has hung up his star. But there's an old sheriff in town that seems to have been reenergized, even though it is an agency headed by a commission controlled by Republican Commissioners. That sheriff has been particularly active of late in a wide variety of fields and still relies heavily on enforcement actions to direct the conduct of industry members. Who is it? It’s none other than the Federal Trade Commission. And familiarity with it is now of paramount importance.

For that reason, to aid our clients and friends, in this webinar, we will survey:

  • FTC jurisdiction and the complaint data that drives FTC actions

  • FTC activities in the Fintech space

  • FTC activities in the broader debt collection and debt counseling arena

  • FTC efforts to protect military consumers

  • FTC activities involving credit reporting and related issues

  • FTC activities in the privacy and data protection sphere

We’ll close by predicting areas that we think may draw the attention of the Federal Trade Commission going forward.
