Join us for a panel discussion with retail developers and owners and an entertainment space design professional regarding current trends in addressing underperforming retail properties. Efforts are being made throughout the country to reposition retail centers to be more productive assets, including converting them to mixed-use developments, changing the balance of retail within the project, and creating experience-driven retail uses. Many jurisdictions require the inclusion of retail in urban and town center projects and some have even imposed penalties for the failure to maintain operating retail in such areas. Developers and owners are struggling to comply with these requirements given the impact of online retail sources. It is becoming increasingly necessary to consider atypical uses, and developers and owners are turning to creative professionals to design inviting and experiential retail spaces.

Our panel will discuss the trends, and some creative approaches to solving the problem of underperforming retail as well as the various legal structures and agreements needed to reposition existing retail assets.
