Modern democracies all claim to be politically transparent. But in reality, even among democratic nations, the transparency of legal systems is all over the world map.

Privacy law—including the right to publish court records or displays of affection in public places, criminal and civil codes involving digital protection, and injunctions against expression—could not be more different on each side of the Atlantic.

As part of the ABA's program to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Ballard Spahr Media and Entertainment Law Practice co-leader Charles D. Tobin will moderate a panel focusing on the challenges that emerge from differences in privacy policy and perception. The panel will feature legal practitioners and media professionals in an engaging discussion about privacy regulation in an increasingly publicized world.
