Arizona Extends Tax Deadline to July 15 in Conformity With Federal Extension

March 25, 2020

The Arizona Department of Revenue announced that it will postpone the deadline for filing and paying state income taxes from April 15, 2020 until July 15, 2020, consistent with the extension of federal filing and payment extensions (See news release here).

The extension applies to individual, corporate, and fiduciary returns. Taxpayers who need additional time beyond the July 15 deadline still can file for an additional six-month extension by filing Arizona Form 204 by July 15 (although payment must be made by July 15 to avoid interest and penalties). Notwithstanding the extensions, the Department of Revenue encourages taxpayers to file its returns electronically to receive faster refunds.

We will continue to monitor Arizona state tax developments. If you have questions, please contact a member of the Ballard Spahr LLP Tax Group.
