William A. Slaughter is the General Counsel of Ballard Spahr and a member of the Executive Team of the firm's Management Committee. He was formerly the Chair of the Litigation Department.

In addition to serving as the firm’s General Counsel, Bill represents interested parties in insolvency cases involving financially troubled companies in telecommunications, real estate development and syndication, health care, insurance, and manufacturing, and companies burdened with the defense of mass tort litigation. He also maintains a commercial litigation practice concentrating on the defense of public companies in securities litigation, the defense of banks and other financial institutions in lender liability cases, professional malpractice litigation, insurance coverage litigation, and ERISA litigation.
