Will Igoe represents clients across industries in complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, and litigation involving trusts, estates, and other fiduciary matters. Will has litigated, arbitrated, and tried high-stakes cases in industry sectors such as pharmaceuticals, investment finance, real estate, and securities. He advises on corporate governance and conducts sensitive internal investigations stemming from government regulation and enforcement, as well as lawsuits, whistleblowing, and other allegations of wrongdoing.

As trial counsel, Will has prevailed on behalf of clients in multi-week trials and arbitrations involving claims up to the hundreds of millions of dollars. He has successfully defended clients against allegations including fraud, conspiracy, racketeering, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. His experience spans claims related to a variety of business transactions, including investments, royalties, and licenses, in disputes over assets ranging from breakthrough medical developments to large real estate projects.

In addition, Will regularly represent corporate and individual trustees regarding claims involving trust administration and related issues.

Experience 

Representative Matters

  • Trial counsel representing a highly respected international medical research institute as respondent in an arbitration in which the claimant sought an eight-figure royalty payment relating to a breakthrough pharmaceutical. After a nearly three-week arbitration trial involving witnesses testifying virtually from around the world, the Ballard Spahr team won a resounding defense award, with the arbitration panel unanimously finding in favor of Ballard Spahr’s client on all claims.
  • Trial counsel for major retail pharmacy chain in a jury trial filed by its former General Counsel seeking millions of dollars for abuse of process and civil conspiracy. The jury found in favor of Ballard Spahr’s client on all claims.
  • Trial counsel for a leading vaccine company in a 10-day International Chamber of Commerce arbitration, where the Ballard team successfully defeated a nine-figure claim by a licensor that alleged the client company failed to use “diligent efforts” to globally commercialize an anti-viral therapy.
