Ballard Spahr Attorneys Recognized for Pro Bono Work in D.C.

June 8, 2022

Thirty-three Ballard Spahr attorneys have been named to the District of Columbia Courts' Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll in recognition of their significant pro bono service in 2021.

The annual Honor Roll recognizes members of the D.C. Bar and others authorized to perform pro bono work in the District who provide 50 or more hours of pro bono services in a year.

“Your dedication to providing crucial pro bono services is even more notable because it occurred during the continuing global pandemic,” stated a letter to honorees from D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby and D.C. Superior Court Chief Judge Anita Josey-Herring.

The Honor Roll program is supported by the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center and the D.C. Access to Justice Commission, and is jointly sponsored by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

The attorneys in Ballard Spahr's Washington, D.C., office contribute thousands of pro bono hours each year to a variety of individuals, organizations, and causes, including domestic violence victims, people with disabilities, and military veterans. Ballard Spahr’s pro bono program, led by Pro Bono Counsel Lisa B. Swaminathan, is among the most accomplished in the country. The program has received numerous awards, including the American Bar Association’s highest pro bono honor, the Pro Bono Publico Award, in 2018.
