Liberals View Kavanaugh as Existential Threat to Consumer Bureau

The Hill spoke to Barbara Mishkin, of Ballard Spahr’s Consumer Financial Services Group, about whether U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh might abolish or defang the CFPB.

Ms. Mishkin cited a statute in the Dodd-Frank law that protects a CFPB director from being terminated for any reason other than neglect of duty or inappropriate conduct as a possible objection to the watchdog’s constitutionality.
