Jon Laria, special counsel for Ballard Spahr, will be featured at an online event with Transit Choices on the morning of February 29, 2024. Along with the other guest speakers, Mr. Laria will present "A look ahead at the (new!) Baltimore Regional Transit Commission and the TRAIN Commision's 2024 Work Plan."

The event description:

The Baltimore region has historically been the only large metropolitan area in the nation with a transit system operated by a state agency without a board or commission oversight. That changed last year when the Governor and General Assembly created the Baltimore Regional Transit Commission (BRTC). With 16 members appointed by the Governor, the Mayor of Baltimore City and County Executives from Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Howard Counties, the BRTC is intended to provide both advocacy for and accountability from MDOT-MTA on the planning, construction, operation, and funding of our regional transit network.

The Transportation Revenue and Infrastructure Needs (TRAIN) Commission was created to review, evaluate, and make recommendations on the prioritization and funding of Maryland transportation projects. It submitted its interim report in January and its work continues through 2024 with a final report due in January 2025.
