Joshua Hoggard is an intellectual property attorney who concentrates his practice on patent prosecution and counseling. Before joining Ballard Spahr, he practiced at a Chambers-ranked law firm, where he advised clients on intellectual property and related business matters.

Josh has extensive experience drafting patent applications, managing prosecution in the United States and abroad, and coordinating with foreign counsel on international filings. His work spans a broad range of technologies, including medical devices (such as urinary catheters, ureteral and vascular stents, thrombectomy devices, bone implants, and cardiovascular devices), advanced materials (including superelastic and shape memory alloys, noble metal alloys, composite materials, and polycrystalline diamond cutting elements and bearings), chemical compositions and processes, metallurgy, food science and technology, seismic structural elements, and computer-related processes, including cybersecurity.
