Drew Hensley is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department focusing on complex patent and trademark litigation. Drew’s patent experience has spanned a broad range of technologies and industries including software and hardware for the Internet, biomedical and genetic technology and research methods, children’s toys, and international designs. He recently played an integral role in a successful patent jury trial in which Ballard Spahr’s client faced potential liability exposure of nearly half a billion dollars. Drew also has a robust practice of domestic and international trademark portfolio management, brand development, and trademark and copyright enforcement. Drew is well-versed in both state and federal commercial disputes and is a go-to resource for intellectual property considerations in business transactions of all sizes.

Drew was a Ballard Spahr Summer Associate in 2019. Prior to joining Ballard Spahr, he worked at the Center for Public Health Law and Policy, where he aided public health leaders locally and nationally on a wide spectrum of emerging issues. Drew applies his public health law experience to his pro bono practice including through analysis of constitutional considerations of emerging legislation affecting healthcare and marginalized communities.

Drew is a Phoenix, AZ native. Before his legal career, Drew was an award-winning vocalist, a cappella composer, and vocal percussionist.
