Andrew Almand concentrates his practice on real estate financing, with a strong emphasis on lender-side commercial loan servicing and asset management matters for both market and affordable multifamily properties. Andrew’s clients include portfolio lenders, agency and non-agency loan servicers, and other financial institutions. Utilizing his expansive knowledge of both agency and non-agency multifamily loan servicing customs, requirements, and standards, Andrew helps his lender-clients deftly navigate the rigors of complex loan assumptions, all manner of transfers of ownership interest requests, and myriad other servicing requests for both securitized and non-securitized loans. Andrew is also routinely engaged and sought after by his lender-clients to process lender consent requests that involve very complex and sophisticated tax-exempt and taxable affordable multifamily deals. Andrew counsels his lender-clients in individual representations and, depending on the complexity of the servicing matter, routinely for multiple loan servicers as consolidated counsel.
In addition to his commercial loan servicing practice, Andrew is regularly sought out by lenders and borrowers alike to serve as Virginia local counsel in real estate and real estate finance transactions. He is also highly regarded as a “one-stop-shop” for his ability to assist clients across the spectrum of Virginia local counsel matters and opinions, including his ability to structure and deploy highly effective approaches that often result in very significant Virginia transfer tax and Virginia mortgage recordation tax savings.
