CFPB Gives Court New Plan to Fire Half of Remaining Staff

Recently, the CFPB asked a federal appeals court to modify a stay barring any significant workforce reduction and give it the go-ahead to let half of its remaining staff go. It would be left with 556 employees, down from 1,174, but will still be able to meet its statutory requirements.

In speaking with Evan Weinberger of Bloomberg Law, Alan S. Kaplinsky shared his thoughts on how the request to reduce CFPB staff might go. Alan is the former longtime leader of Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group.
