Ballard Spahr, Joseph Anderson Make Shortlist for Managing IP Americas Awards

Ballard Spahr and Joseph P. Anderson III, a Partner in the IP Department, have been shortlisted for the 2026 Managing IP Americas Awards.
Ballard Spahr is one of six firms in the running for Firm of the Year–Patent Prosecution (South), with the firm having won this award in 2023. Joe is one of seven attorneys nominated for Patent Prosecutor (South). In addition, Managing IP has previously recognized Joe as an "IP Stars" Notable Practitioner and Patent star in Georgia.
Managing IP, a worldwide intellectual property news and analysis service, conducts annual research for its Americas Awards which covers thousands of firms, IP practitioners, and their clients through interviews and online surveys, in order to recognize the most effective lawyers and firms in jurisdictions across the globe. With his practice based in Atlanta, Joe has widespread experience in preparing, filing, and prosecuting utility and design patent applications, both domestically and internationally, in the industrial, consumer product, and medical device technology sectors. He has particular experience in advising clients on infringement risks and design changes in advance of large-scale product launches, as well as unique design patent experience that allows him to quickly identify comprehensive filing strategies that maximize the commercial value of industrial designs. Joe also has extensive experience in opinion preparation, client counseling, patent portfolio analysis, and due diligence in support of transactions involving patent rights.
