When WDIO-TV reported on a local artist whose work was allegedly reproduced without his permission, the reporter spoke to Elizabeth L. Schilken to gain a better understanding of copyright protections and how they work.
“The minute you create...a copyrightable work, the minute it’s fixed in a tangible medium of expression—it’s written down, it’s sculpted, it’s painted—the moment it’s created, it’s copyrighted. It’s protected under copyright,” she said.
