Anna A. Mahaney, an accomplished real estate finance lawyer who serves as co-leader of Ballard Spahr’s national Housing Finance Group, has been named the firm’s office managing partner (OMP) in Baltimore.
As OMP, Anna serves on the firm’s Expanded Board and oversees operations for the Baltimore office. Ballard Spahr’s newly renovated space in Baltimore—at 111 S. Calvert St. in Baltimore’s Central Business District—was established more than 30 years ago and serves as home base to more than 35 attorneys who advise clients on corporate, real estate, and financing transactions; regulatory compliance matters; and litigation and dispute resolution. The office serves as an epicenter for the firm’s national Housing, Housing Finance, and Real Estate Finance Groups. In addition to outstanding legal services, the Baltimore office is known for extensive pro bono contributions, community service, and civic leadership.
Anna’s firm leadership positions also include serving on the firm’s Senior Leadership Team. Her general real estate practice emphasizes representing mortgage lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions, including construction, acquisition, refinancing, bridge loans, and permanent financing, with a concentration in multifamily, affordable housing, manufactured housing, and seniors housing loans. Anna also represents real estate owners and developers in real estate finance transactions. She joined Ballard Spahr in 2003 as a summer associate, was elevated to partner in 2015, and has been with the firm her entire career.
Anna succeeds Thomas A. Hauser as Baltimore OMP, who, effective January 1, transitioned to vice chair of the firm’s national Finance Department. He is also a member of the firm’s Elected Board and Senior Leadership Team.
