Mike Fabius Becomes Member of the International Masters of Gaming Law

September 9, 2019

Michael D. Fabius, Co-Practice Leader of Ballard Spahr's Gaming Group, has been elected as a General Member of the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), an application-based nonprofit association dedicated to the advancement of the gaming law profession.

With nearly 350 members globally involved in most material gambling sector developments and issues worldwide, IMGL works to create an exchange of professional information about the local and global practice and development of gaming law. Membership is limited to gaming lawyers with extensive industry experience and comes with demanding requirements, including having a distinguished list of gaming clients, publishing scholarly articles, client and peer references, and being recognized by a third-party publication as preeminent in the area of gaming law. Members are widely acknowledged as thought leaders in their jurisdictions.

Mr. Fabius, an administrative law attorney, advises clients in the highly-regulated gaming and racing industries and litigates claims for them in front of administrative agencies. In Pennsylvania and New Jersey's well-established gaming markets, he has advised three casino applicants in competitive application proceedings—two were successful.

As a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Gaming Law Committee, Mr. Fabius tracks and reports on all current developments affecting Pennsylvania's casino industry. He also maintains a survey of consent agreements entered into between the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and licensees that helps licensees in negotiating future consent agreements when the need arises.

"I'm honored to join this elite group of lawyers, many of whom I've worked with and admired for years," said Mr. Fabius. "I'm always looking for ways to learn and better serve my clients and I'm sure that my work with IMGL is the perfect opportunity for that."
